Hazel Iris
I played with the incredible songstress Hazel Iris as a regular member of her band from the start of 2017 until the pandemic arrived in early 2020. I played at the album launch for Hazel’s album “Nine Sisters” (although the album was recorded before I joined her band) which took place in October 2018 at St Bart’s Church in London.
Hazel’s soaring vocals rest on her excellent arrangements for a very versatile and ever changing ensemble. While I regret not having recorded a studio album with Hazel, we did record a live video album of the live show “The Story of Lily” which you can view below in all its theatrical glory.
One of the best parts of playing in Hazel’s band was getting the chance to play with so many fantastic musicians, especially Aine Mcloughlin on Accordion and Mally Harpaz on percussion with whom I played many times but also including Aurora Del Rio, Kate Christie Evans, Myles Peters, John Atterbury, Federico Accardo, Bartek Glowacki, Andrey Lebedev, Hana Piranha, Fred Harper, Twm Dylan and Tara Minton.
Hazel is currently based in Berlin.
